  • Travel stories....The day I walked into a #kundaliniyoga class in #SantoDomingo, being the only one in the room dressed in black!!?

The teachers were nice to let me participate all the same, but you can imagine that I felt like the black sheep among the white herd....

The experience triggered off a whole reflection process within me what kind of energy the colours you are wearing attract to your life!

What's the colour of your favourite #yogaclothes?

  • How do we want to work and live? I have had very interesting conversations around the fact that many public institutions are turning their back to the home office model these days. During the pandemic there was a huge shift to this new way of working and many organisations have kept it or at least a hybrid version between remote and onsite work.

I have to say that I have been working from home for more than 10 years now and I just love it. I can organise my work around my family, my other interests and take my work with me (when I want to see friends or family abroad). I am interested in being productive and #deepwork and not in fulfilling a 9-5 shift. In my team, we work results-based and I don't care when and where you do your job. Who can be productive for 8h in a row anyways?

So why are organisations going back to the old model? It seems that some people in particular in the public sector couldn't handle the newly won freedom and abused of it. So this has led to a certain level of mistrust in some organisations.

I still think that we have to change our future model of work and with more and more AI tools substituting us, the question whether we need to work a 5-day week is on the table again, too.

So how do you organise your work or what's your ideal set up between work and life?

P.S.: I took this picture during a 2h walk in Santander after an intensive 3h Training which helped me to refresh my mind and get loads of oxigene into my body!!!

  • 2024 marks a special year for me. It has been 10 years of freelance work and 5 years since I created my own multilingual communications agency Legado Sharpe & Fischer SL!

What a journey it has been! I can remember all my fears and doubts when “I launched myself on the market”. Would I have enough clients to support my family and running costs? Would I be able to continue working in the fields that I am passionate about?

Now 10 years on, I can only say: I don’t regret a single minute of it! It has been the best decision of my life! Not only did it make it so much easier to reconcile family and work in a time when remote work didn’t really exist at large scale, but I also constantly keep on learning and trying out new skills, and even manage to find the time to progress with very personal projects, like my first children’s book. Of course, it requires some discipline and establishing routines around efficient work. But I also invested a lot of time in self-development and personal growth these past years, knowing that nobody can do 8h of deep work in a row. So, yoga, mindfulness, sports and socialising with friends and peers have all been part of the programme!

I also have to say thank you to those who gave me an opportunity when I was just starting as a freelancer, in particularly Graziano Di Paola and Diego Teloni with whom I organised the summer school Sumlab for Cohesion Policy Communicators in 2014 and 2015 (great memories!). And of course a huge thank you to my team, collaborators and clients in all these years. In the photo gallery below I gathered some best of moments from this 10-year journey! 😊

Today on #InternationalWomensDay #IWDay24 it is also time to give back and support other women in their journey to freedom and a better work-life-balance!

So, I decided to offer TWO FREE COACHING SESSIONS to any woman in the world who feels the calling (you can forward this post to any person who needs to read this!)! I will select the two winners through a lottery in two weeks time. If you are interested, just send me a private message!

  • I am just back from 9 days on the road in Africa. The first stop was in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, in the framework of a project with the African Union, which aims at creating an African Single Electricity Market, bringing access to reliable and affordable electricity to millions of Africans by 2040. The second part of my trip brought me off the beaten track to Djibouti, working on a multi-annual communication strategy.

Djibouti is a very peculiar country: only 1 million inhabitants but of high geopolitical interest and quite a stable point compared to its neighbouring countries.... One of the highlights was my visit to “Lac Assal”, the lowest lake in Africa (150cm below Sea level), surrounded by a volcanic area (still active today). Highly recommendable and a pity I didn't have more time!!

2024 marks a special year for me. It has been 10 years of freelance work and 5 years since I created my own multilingual communications agency Legado Sharpe & Fischer SL! What a journey it has been! I can remember all my fears and doubts when “I launched myself on the market”. Would I have enough clients to support my family and running costs? I am just back from 9 days on the road in Africa.

My services

How can we solve your communication challenges?

Multi-lingual and multi-cultural

Being fluent in four languages (English, Spanish, French and German) speeds up the production and project management considerably. My extensive knowledge of different cultural contexts helps me to find the right tone and communication tool for every single project I am involved in.

Global player with local experience

I have worked in many different countries in these past 15 years, but often in cooperation with local authorities, NGOs or private sector stakeholders on the spot. Through this, I have built up a broad contact network around the globe and I know the project lifecycle from different points of view: from the project to the programme and strategic/institutional level.

Creativity

Being a passionate photographer myself with a strong interest in culture, I often combine the institutional world with the arts, providing a fresh impetus of creative and sometimes unusual solutions. For me, creativity and out-of-the-box thinking lie at the heart of every successful communication project.
